The last rays of the sun cast an orange hue across the polluted sky as Max descended down into the subway. He entered the first set of airtight doors and paused as all of the pollutants that had entered with him were sucked outside by vents in the ceiling. Once a light on the wall turned green to indicate that the air inside was at a breathable rate, Max took off his air mask. Trying to quickly stuff it away in his messenger bag, he lost grip of the small plastic mouthpiece and it fell to the floor. Cursing the necessity of it, he bent down, picked it up, and stored it away in his bag.
